It is now the end of the second week of summer vacation and I have already fallen into a routine of running in the am, teaching summer school, run some errands, eat lunch, and then my favorite time of day...Nap time!
When I was a kid I hated naps, my mom would even put a hook lock on the outside of my door so I would be forced to stay in my room so she could have a bit of peace in her day. Now I love naps, 20 minutes or a long 2 hour afternoon one.
This summer is flying by. Last Sunday was my wedding shower put on by my mom, Aunt Debbie and Matt's mom. The food was amazing and the cake was fantastic. I only hope the reception food is half as good. After the shower a few people came over and helped stuff the invitations and label the outside envelopes so I could get them in the mail this week. The problem was the stamps. The heart $0.59 stamps did not arrive at the post office on time, so the invitation didn't get mailed out until late yesterday.
An old college friend, Ali, said I needed to be a bit more specific in my blog so here is my attempt to answer some of her questions.
1. What do I teach? I just finished my 8th year of teaching high school Algebra. I only teach freshman. I also have coached swimming and track and field and been the Freshman class sponsor. This year I will be taking over as the girls head track coach after being an assistant for the last 8 years.
2. Who is Matt? Matt is also a Math teacher and coaches cross country and baseball. We met at school. During the first few weeks of his first year teaching four years ago he caught my eye. We started talking at first just at work and then my friends were throwing a surprise party for my 30th birthday and they invited him as well. We continued to just be platonic at work and my brothers wedding was coming up and I needed a date so I asked Matt. We weren't sure it was a good idea to date as we were at the same building and in the same department, so we backed off and pretended to be just friends. In the spring we decided we were definitely more then friends, but agreed we needed to be very cautious at work. So for two years only our closes friends at work new we were dating. This past November when we got engaged (I'll tell the story next week) there were people at school that were shocked because they didn't even know we had been dating. It was kind of fun to be a bit on the sneaky side.
Gotta go take a nap!
