New York

Last week Matt and I vacationed in New York City. The word vacation always implies relaxation and this trip was far from that. We drove to NYC, it took 13 hours. We traded off the driving every few hours and before we knew it we arrived in Clifton, NJ. Matt and I checked into the hotel, grabbed a bite to eat and then crashed.

We started our marathon vacation Monday at 4:30 am, caught the 5:05 bus into the city and headed to see the Statue of Liberty and tour Ellis Island. We headed back to Manhatten and walked around the World Trade Center Site. We capped off the evening at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees ended up losing to the Rangers, but it was cool to visit the stadium during its last season.

Tuesday was going to be a little less hectic. Matt and I wanted to run in Central Park, so we packed a change of cloths, a washcloth and lots of deodorent. We decided to take turns running so someone could keep an eye on our stuff. I took off on my run, I was only going to run 3 miles or so. On my way through the paths, I ran into a friend from Mizzou. In front of me on the path was a guy wearing a St. Louis Cardinals hat and low and behold it was Mike Ryan. New York City is huge, but I ran into one of the two people I know that live in the city. Mike and I met during one of my sorority philanthropies. I was in charge of the t-shirts for A Dee Pi and Mike was his fraternities king candidate. We made plans to try and grab drinks later in the week. After the run we changed cloths and wandered around Times Square and mapped out what we wanted to do on Wednesday as far as Broadway tickets. We headed to Yankee Stadium a bit early so we could get in line to see the Memorial Garden.

On Wednesday, we slept in a bit, but still made it to Times Square to see a bit of taping of Good Morning America. Ermil Lagasse was taping a cooking bit. After watching the production a bit we headed to the cheap Broadway ticket line. Matt and I bought tickets to see Legally Blonde. We met my Friend Eddie for lunch. He and I worked together and Disney and have remained friends for a long time! We grabbed a train after lunch, watched the show and then met my friend Mike for drinks. Then it was back to the hotel to get good night sleep before the long ride home.

Take a peak at pictures.

On Wednesday

I think it is amazing that you remember who all these people are!!! I think if someone I knew from MU hit me in the face I still might not remember them. YOU should have been elected our Homecoming Queen.
